1st Day: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz valley – Arfoud – Merzouga (Fes Marrakech Tour)
We will start by picking you up early in the morning (8 am) from your accommodation in Fez in order to begin our exciting journey towards the Sahara desert, starting at the town of Ifrane. Ifrane is known for being a winter snow resort, referred to a lot as the “Switzerland of Morocco”. We will continue driving through the Azrou cedar forests in the mountains, where we can stop to hopefully sight some wild Macaque monkeys. After spending some time there, we will continue our road trip, which will take us to the city of Midelt.
Next, we will be crossing the Tizi n Tlghamt mountain pass, before driving through the magnificent Ziz gorges. After taking in all the green scenery of the High Atlas plateau, the landscape will start shifting towards more of a desert atmosphere, and that’s how you’ll know we’re approaching Errachidia city. After passing by the desert towns of Erfoud and Rissani, we will finally arrive at Merzouga town where you will receive a warm desert-style welcome. We will then check in to the hotel where we will be spending the night.
2nd Day: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes – Tisrdmine Oasis – Khamlia – Merzouga (Fes Marrakech Tour)
This is the official day where you can try out all the exciting desert activities, starting with a ride through the Erg Chebbi dunes in a 4×4 vehicle. During the drive, you will notice many black scattered randomly throughout the desert: those are the tents of Nomadic Berbers who choose to live their lives wandering through the Sahara. We will stop by one of those families and have a cup of tea with them so that you can learn more about their culture and way of life. Another group of indigenous people who choose to live in the Sahara is the people of Khamlia village, which we will visit next.
You will get to listen to their spiritual music and enjoy their company before we head back to our Kasbah hotel to have lunch (or we can have lunch in the village). After getting some rest, you will get to mount a camel and ride it through the majestic desert dunes during the sunset, before arriving at the desert camp where you will spend the night. At the camp, you will have dinner accompanied by a fun time with Berber music and dance.
3rd Day: Merzouga – Rissani – Tingdad – Todra Gorge – Dades valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate
This morning you will be woken up by your desert guide in order to watch the early morning sun deposit its first rays on the desert dunes, in a scene that can only be described as heavenly. After this, we will again ride the camels back to Merzouga, on a scenic trip through the Erg Chebbi dunes. We will have breakfast at a traditional Riad in the town, then we will leave the desert to our next destination: Ouarzazate city. On our way there, we will first stop at the gorgeous Todra gorges, which are considered to be Morocco’s tallest and narrowest gorges. We will have lunch and explore the beauty of the location before finally continuing to the Dades valley.
You will get to enjoy the rocky landscape and the scattered sandcastles surrounding the valley, after which we will begin journeying through the Road of The Thousand Kasbahs. This exciting road gets its name from being filled with abandoned Kasbahs and sandcastles all over, which means we will get plenty of photo opportunities. After that, we will be driving through the beautiful Valley of Roses (we can stop at the city of Kalaat Mgouna) to then finally reach the cinematic Ouarzazate city.
4th Day: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben haddou Kasbah – High Atlas – Marrakech
For the last day of our 4 days tour from Fes to Marrakech. We will get to the nearby world-famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Which is perhaps the most important historical Kasbah in Morocco. Pacha Glaoui, who was an important ruler of the region back during the early 20th century built this KASBAH. Today, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a UNESCO world heritage site and is used as the backdrop of many international historical movies. Finally, we will head to Marrakech city through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying their green scenery and mountainous landscape.
